Appeal to legalize the use of social networking sites

I am writing in response to the current sanction imposed on social networking sites on campus. I understand that this sanction is part of the policy to create a conducive learning environment .

Although Facebook, Twitter and MSN might provide more reason for distraction and make us seem lazy, the fact is that social networking sites do help us cultivate useful social and educational skills. Social networking sites equip us with success skills that are necessary for the 21^st Century. As a matter of fact students are now able to stretch their potential for education by exchanging valuable information pertaining to education by sharing original pieces of work through these sites.

A ban on social networking sites might have the following consequences. Psychologically, we would not be able to vent our frustrations and rid ourselves of the stress which stems from our urban lifestyle. Social networking sites provide room for creative expression in a new medium and can provide positive social support when we are facing a crisis in our lives. Different social groups on social networking sites provide specific uses of these sites which can be beneficial to society because it brings people of a common interest together.

In the aspect of education , a ban on social networking sites might cause a drawback in the learning process because we are not able to source for new ideas in terms of information to substantiate our assignments.
